2010 better not be the decade of MMO's.. I know pretty much last decade was the decade of cover mechanics and knee high walls.. With Infinity Ward and now Bungie both rumoured to be making MMO's this better not be a trend.

It can, MMOS depend wholly on how many players play. You can have an absolute fantastic game and have it die because no one plays. Blizzard has the advantage of an absolute huge and dedicated fanbase.

Even if a game has better things than WOW players wont leave because they don't want to abandon the things they have invested into WOW.(Hours of levelling, expansions, guilds etc etc).

So Blizzard has to *bleep* up majorly for someone else to take the crown.

And as long as they keep pumping out expansions and just taking new ideas from other MMOS they will stay top.

Also, MMOs always have a rough time when they release, so they need a dedicated fanbase from the start to keep it going until it gets full running. Conan succumbed to this by players leaving too quick before they get going.

Considering as they are paying a subscription I can understand why. People just go "Screw this, I'm going back to wow"

thats really a shame as WOW sucks gigantic balls. there are plenty MMOs that kick its ass in terms of good gameplay, but youre right though about a huge fanbase making such a difference. i think Warhammer Online is better than WOW, but just like everything else it couldnt compete. i just hope for the best.

Yeah, The very concept of how MMOS work is what makes it so hard to break the mold. They just work totally different then other games.

I tried WoW. Less than a year later, I said, "Screw this, I'm going back to my 360."
