Despite being threatened by several other titles back in Novemeber 2009, Ubisoft today confirmed that Assassin's Creed II has surpassed 6 million units sold.

Sales figures for Assassin's Creed II have been released: the game has sold over six million units since its launch in November 2009, 40 percent higher than its predecessor's numbers. This incredible feat is only emphasised by the fact it was released alongside Activision's powerhouse Modern Warfare 2 -- a huge catch for gamers.

Impressive. No wonder they have already announced another Assassins Creed for sometime in their 2010 fiscal year.

I will probably pick this up. Played the first one 3 times. I might get ACII second hand though, for a cheaper price.

Cannot think of a more deserving game.

Wait... If it sold better than the original, by a whole 40% too, aren't there a lot of people who played the game without knowing the story in the first? I thought the whole point of this game was to get the story to move forward...

Lots of people would have purchased the first used which wouldn't have counted towards the overall sales figures. Though from what I have heard Assassins Creed 2 seems to do a nice enough job of not being too dependant on the original, though I have yet to play Assassins Creed 2 so I am just going on what I have been told.
