Nintendo is achieving a pretty strong position in Japan, particularly with being valued as one of the top ten companies, and with various companies pledging their support. As the article discusses, the Japanese top ten currently includes five DS games, three Wii games, and two for the PS2.

The latest software sales figures from Media Create have revealed that the DS is continuing to dominate in Japan, with more than two-thirds of the top 30 titles having been published for Nintendo's handheld.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass goes straight in at number one this week, selling more than 300,000 copies. That's over twice as many as the number two title, Square Enix's Itadaki Street DS.
