The strategic empire building game loved by history teachers the world over is coming to "unspecified" next generation handhelds. As well as discussing this, the article describes the games themselves.

2K Games and Firaxis have announced that Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution will bring the popular series to unspecified "next-generation consoles and handhelds" in Spring 2008.

"Civilization Revolution is the game I've always wanted to make!" said Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development at Firaxis Games. "We are excited to take advantage of the power of next generation consoles and the ingenuity of handhelds, to create a great and unique strategy game for newcomers to the series, as well as the millions of fans around the world who enjoy Civilization on the PC."

I played a bit of Civilization III (Got it for like $10 bucks)...I hope this turns out really cool.

Didn't this Sid guy say that the PS3 is his fave console at some point? So chances are, there will be a PS3 version at least right? Not to mention a PSP version...

    Could be wrong though...hope not.

I used to have Civ III on the PC, and I've still got Civ II for the PSX. My history teacher loved those games, but he wouldn't let us play in class; that's quite odd, considering he let us watch Blackadder.
