Nonetheless, the game received the rating of MA15+ from the Classification Board, which allows it to be widely released.

As much as I do believe the ratings board is inconsistent, I can usually understand why a game that has been banned has done so.Like Alien Vs Predator, even though I'm glad I can play it unedited, just from one pic I could see why it was originally banned as imo it SHOULDN'T be played by people under the age of 18.But I blame the lack of an 18+ rating so I have nothing against it being rated 15+.
Not only does the series have more gore than any other game they've banned, they have bare breasts and sex minigames in every installment. That's one hell of an inconsistency in their decision making.
More gore than any game that's ever been banned? I think not.I personally think the gore in Manhunt was a lot gorier and disturbing than GOW.I haven't played it but I'm thinking that Soldier of Fortune: Payback would have also been gorier than GOW.
Also they take into account stuff like heavy/harsh screaming during dismemberment and such. Also whether the gore is on humans or creatures or how focused the gore is.
I can say for certain, but this seems yet another demonstration of how inconsistent the Rating Board is. I mean surely L4D2 had less gore than the fabled God of War 3, where you rip off a man's head as part of a minigame.
