Dylan Cuthbert, Creator of the highly popular PixelJunk games has responded to some of the complaints over the price point for Shooter. Many say that $10 is expensive for a game like that, he says its ridiculous to complain over that price point. His disappointment is also fueled by the massive pirating of PixelJunk Monsters on the PSP.

Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert doesn't like you, cheap gamer. When quizzed by Develop, the PixelJunk creator described one thing that disappointed him most about the industry: gamers that refuse to open up their wallets. "Gamers complaining about our games being too expensive at 10 dollars. I'm not sure this is an industry problem, but it seems ridiculous that people complain about that price point." Cuthbert seems particularly sensitive about this issue, noting the rampant piracy of PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on PSP earlier this year.

Apparently not. It's kind of sad that in this day and ago people will still go on about pirating, especially concerning the PSP.

But then again, $10 is relatively cheap, so I don't really understand why people are bitching in the first place.

Yeah I guess as a game developer you would be totally cool with people pirating your games instead of legitimately paying for them.

While $10 is cheap for the video game market. I think it is the market not the individual game that is overpriced. Personally I believe that games should not be released for over $30. Anymore is honestly ridiculous and greedy for it is only the AAA titles that charge $60 on release and they are also the ones most likely to generate a profit that is x2-x3 or higher. While I understand they want to make money but at the same time I think it is possible for them to make too much money. Now I am just kinda rambling so I will stop sorry for the long winded post.

Some people just can't justify purchases for games they are unsure about, developers should understand that. Of course the pirating is a legitimate complaint.

I think one of the comments at the source summed it up nicely...

    quote
I refuse to buy downloadable games like this without a demo. What if it looks great, and I end up playing it and not liking it? That's $10 down the toilet. I don't mind spending $10 on a game like this if I like it, but I'm not going to blindly throw my money at any game and just expect it to be my cup of tea.
It's not a matter of being cheap. It's a matter of getting what you paid for. I'd be willing to shell out $100+ for a game like Uncharted 2 because I know I'd enjoy it. But do I want to throw away $10 on a game on the chance I might enjoy it? Not really.

What? People do that all the time with far more expensive games.
