The detailed ERSB summary of Heavy Rain’s “mature” rating is practically a report. This analysis of the controversial content is almost 500 words long and details some of the more “graphic” scenes players will face. Here’s just a few of the intense moments in Heavy Rain that made us squeamish reading them.

I for one am actually quite pleased to see the attention Heavy Rain is receiving. I find it is a defining moment of what humans truly find mature/graphic, so take note designers!

Do not read this if you don't want spoilers! I read the first line, and while it had been hinted at in a trailer, it was confirmed! So if you want to stay spoiler-free, AVOID!

I was about to go read this and then I thought that it would probably contain spoilers. Thankfully I thought about it before hand.

    quote Kartel
a woman squirming and screaming as she catches on fire
lol tbfh that isn't so bad. In HL2 when the zombies catch on fire they run around and scream in agony and it's kinda unnerving but once you get used to it it's quite funny

Man this violence stuff is nothing if you've seen Hostel 1 and 2 where people get drills shoved down their throat and get their genitalia ripped off.

Yeah, but the keyword there is Zombie. People don't mind so much killing zombies, even if they were once human.

Yeah I think the main difference there is that Hostel is widely regarded as tasteless torture-porn aimed at a teen market. Heavy Rain looks to be a much more mature outing, so it will be interesting to see how it balances a deep story with scenes of intense violence. It's always a fine line.

It also depends who the woman is. If it is someone you see quite a bit and grow attached to, the scene could really be quite distressing if the writing is good enough to make you feel a connection to her.

Hmm . . . . wait that wasn't so long of a report! I was a bit disappointed in it!

In any case to those complaining about ratings and comparing games to movies, just remember that in video games YOU actually watch and interact with whatever the violence, sex, etc. in the scene is. So Video games will of course get more scrutiny and a tighter rating. With movies all you do is sit there . . . and watch. Nothing else.
