Sony talks 'Games on Demand', digital distribution, and PSN future

Sony talks about a possible 'Games on Demand' type feature and backwards compatibility as to how Sony will treat PS2 titles for new Sony adopters. The future of PSN is also discussed.

We were recently given the opportunity to ask John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing, SCEA some questions about the newest 250GB PS3 sku, digital distribution, a possible 'Games on Demand' type feature, and what kind of future plans Sony has stored for us throughout 2010 with the PlayStation Network. Backwards compatibility was one of the topics discussed and how Sony will treat PS2 titles for new Sony adopters.

    "John Koller: God of War Collection is a great example of how technology like Blu-ray can be used to not only reintroduce PlayStation 2classics, but improve on them at the same time by adding new features like PSN Trophies, higher resolution textures, and increased frame rates – all on a single Blu-ray disc."

    I am smelling collection discs. Possibly all the jak and daxter, sly cooper and ratchet and clank games all in their own collection discs. I think this would be cool, but downloading them off of PSN might be better.

    I'm going to be honest and say I felt the entire article was a whole lot of nothing. All the answers were typical PR stuff, with most of it being a variation of "Oh you will certainly see Sony pushing that next year" or "We can't talk about that right now" or "Sony is great"

    No specifics, no facts, no promises. Just words

    No ones gonna say it? Just like they did when Trophies were released?

    Games on Demand? what are they gonna change it to? Games on download?

      The problem is, FinalFantasyFanaticccccc, you give Microsoft way too much credit. None of that stuff is so super creative so much as it is the logical progression of distribution especially when it comes to outdated media. Where the cost of printing more physical media for older content would be useless.

        You think i'm saying that microsoft created it? Things like Games on Demand have been around for ages, hell look at steam. I was just saying that as a joke, seeing as no one else had said it yet =/ Glad you noticed the sarcasm!
