Today, Nintendo has unveiled a new budget lineup in Japan: Minna no Osusume Selection, or the "Everyone's Recommendation Selection". Unlike most other budget rerelease lineups like Player's Choice, Greatest Hits, or PlayStation the Best, which are based on retail sales, the Everyone's Recommendation Selection are based on user ratings gathered from the Minna no Nintendo Channel (Nintendo Channel) in Japan. The criteria for being considered is having earned either a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medal from total ratings. In Japan, there are 75 titles that qualify to be included in the selection, of which 7 were chosen to start the line:

  • 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ (SEGA, Platinum medal)
  • Oboro Muramasa Youtouden (Muramasa: The Demon Blade) (Marvelous Entertainment, Gold medal)
  • Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous Entertainment, Gold medal)
  • Family Ski: World Ski and Snowboard (We Ski and Snowboard) (Namco Bandai, Silver medal)
  • One Piece Unlimited Cruise Episode 1 (Namco Bandai, Silver medal)
  • Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatoskr (Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World) (Namco Bandai, Bronze medal)
  • Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor (Namco Bandai, Bronze medal)

All of these rereleases will see Japanese retail shelves on February 25th for 2800 yen.

Interesting idea I guess. It`s based more of what people think of the games rather than the sales. I wouldn`t mind to see what others will be given this in the future.
