In an interview in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura says that the Final Fantasy VII remake is currently not in development.

      The "rumor" has been confirmed. The only thing thing Nomura's saying is that it isn't currently under development, not that it's not going to happen. SE would be stupid to miss out on a cash cow that is a remake of FF7, especially after it's already been given the go ahead.

    Saying that someone will eventually make it, doesn't mean that it is confirmed. All he said was that someone in the future may make it, and I think a lot of people interpreted that as "They're working on it" which is the reason this has come out - to tell people that they're NOT working on it.

    And I think FFVII will probably happen when they reach the levels of Spirits Within bankruptcy... which considering the sub-par X360 games that have come out of the studio, will be in the next year or two...

    The desperation of some gamers to believe idle rumors can be astounding sometimes. Their antics can almost lead one to believe they have no other purpose in life other than to voraciously seek out any twinkle of hope for a confirmation. Seriously, sometimes some people can seem altogether way too hopeful.

    Now if only Nomura can get Versus finished...
