Aren't the Japanese into all silly weird games that nobody from Japan (Or who isn't obsessed with Japan) will have ever ever heard of? So yeah...

      Not at all.

      Well, yeah kind of.

It's just more a case of Batman isn't really as popular there as over here, so they didn't give as much of a shit. TBH I'm surprised it even reached 23rd

Give Batman a seven-foot sword and blonde hair that makes him look like a woman. That'll get some attention in Japan.

Its because batman isnt really that much of an "extreme" character over there. Here batman is cool and badass and all that stuff.

Over in Japan they already got millions of those types of characters in Manga and stuff.

I am certain I heard the exact opposite, that Batman: Arkham Asylum had actually done quite well in Japan compared to most other titles, something about similar themes.

Batman isn't big in Japan why is this surprising? it's like if they released a game based around Karas over in the West no one would pay any attention.

Actually, Batman's pretty popular in Japan. At least, in terms of American comic book heroes.
The Animated Series in particular helped boosted its popularity over there in the 90s, since its style kinda fit with what Japanese audiences liked.

I wouldn't really put it like that. He's more of a cult-character, unless if I'm mistaken, kind o' like Jap. characters with American Otakus and the like; in the circles the people run in it's popular but as a whole, not so much.
