How "hot" is your Xbox 360?

ar_cat | June 29, 2007 | News | XBOX 360
A "hot" case mod for the 360. It won't cool your 360 but it will make it just as cool by letting you know just how hot it is inside. Temperature sensors sample the cases' oh so warm air and depending on how hot (or cold) it is will produce a different color glow emitted from colored LED's. A numeric LED display is also included in the mod to show you the exact number in celcius.
XCMLive's Hot Rock Case may not do much to actually cool your potentially toasty console, but the LED-infused enclosure sports a digital thermometer that informs users of just how warm things are getting within. Additionally, the internal lights change color depending on the temperature range, and if it gets beyond a certain point (118-degrees Fahrenheit), the obligatory "flashing red" will act as your cue to take a momentary break or submerge your console in dry ice.

So is it going to tell us if the 360 is too hot? How hot is it able to get without warping and getting the Red Ring of Death? I like the idea if this info was known.

Is this actually going to stop them exploding, or just give you time to run for cover?

That is such a cool idea, I can't deny giving Microsoft their props for this. I wish Sony would implement something like this.

Shame it doesn't actually do anything than tell you it's hot or cold. Would be better if it also stopped it from getting too hot.

Sony machines don't have a problem with overheating, do they? I haven't heard of it.

It'd be cool to have that on a PC case, although it's not really an issue with the new ones. My old computer would sulk like crazy when it overheated.

This is another one of those delay games. They make this feature cause there lazy and not fixed the internal problems. And besides It sounds like it would use power as well. which to me is pointless. I wish MS could just fixed them already.

I don't think its a problem with Microsofts development of the 360, as all Consoles can get hot if you play them for an extended period of time ^^

It would be nice, cuz even if an Xbox 360 had a cooler on it, it still has a chance to overheat, and by having that, it's a pretty good thing.

This is a really nice idea in my opinion. Consoles can get very hot is you play them for quite awhile (( I'm sure you could fry and egg on the PS3 ... ))
I suppose it could also be used as an indicator to tell you that you've been playing for too long and need to go get some fresh air XD ... //

What a great idea. The designer must have been colourf blind, however. How does orange indicate a cool 360?
