It seems like the infamous reign of mandatory PS3 installs hasn't ended. Lately most games have been able to knock down the file size to 1-2GB but one of the PS3 big titles to release in the new year, Heavy Rain, is going for a whopping 4.2GB's. For many with the newer models, this should would a little problem, but older model owners might need to start deleting some stuff.

Looking to purchase Heavy Rain? You might want to save an extra 4.2GB of space in your hard drive as the game will REQUIRE (as the game boxart suggests) you to install the game’s data in order to proceed. It sure is a lot of space but as you are waiting for the data to install in your hard drive, there will be a guide showing you on how to make a Swan Origami (as featured in the game) while you’re waiting for the game to install. There are twelve steps to make it and I am sure by the time you are done making your origami, the installation will be done.

I'm always having to delete stuff to fit installs anyway so this doesn't bother me.

Unfortunate but understandable, at least its not the whole 5GB.

I was basically the same way. When my 60gig dwindled down to 10gigs I sorta freaked and got a new one.

Yeah and I want that space to last as long as I can until I have enough money to buy an external, and internal hard drive. This shit ain't cheap.

There's seriously nothing you can get rid of?

Like ruled said, can't you just delete something? Pretty much any time a game with an instal comes out I have to delete data to play the new game.

Unless you play your games, finish them then play them again a few eeks later then you don't need the game data.Once I'm done with a game I delete the data unless it's a game like Saints Row 2 which I still play on and off quite regularly.

I have 20GB left, but I'm not sure if I wanna dedicate a whole quarter of that to one game.

Oh yeah, full-whopping 4 Gigs. Did anybody forget Capcom's games? You know, the ones with the 5 Gig big installations?

I have yet to put DMC4 back on my HDD since I got a new one. I probably should do that.

Yowch! . . . . Lol, I'm like Reaver, when my 60 gig got to about 20 or so I jumped and got me a 250 before it got any worse! Lol, I've no problems now. Sadly though I may have to jump even higher within a year or so since it's below 100 I think.

I have a 250gb Slim, so no problem for me. I can see how people with earlier PS3s will suffer though. Though tbh if you're suffering from a 4.2gb install, it's really time to upgrade your HDD anyway.

    Didn't Fallout 3 require a 5GB install or something?

Clever with the origama how-to guide for an in-flight video (in-flight meaning download...obviously).
