BioWare dismisses Mass Effect 2 Playstation 3 port rumors

PS3 codes were recently discovered in the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Mass Effect 2, feuding speculation about a Playstation 3 port. BioWare’s Chris Priestly quickly dismisses this rumor.

    There is no way this is going to happen. Something like this would have to be decided early on in the planning stages. It' not that hard to port between Xbox and PC, but it's really tough to port to PS3. They might be able to finish Mass Effect 3 in less time.

      Just a few in the list of games that were ported and not planned.

          If they were going to release Mass Effect onto the PS3 then it would have been released by now. Wish people would stop holding onto rumours and move on, it's getting just as bad as the MGS4 on 360 rumours now.

          No they're not, because this one is actually possible

          To think there is definitely going to be a port is baseless speculation, and just plain silliness, of course.

          To think there definitely isn't going to be one is just as baseless and just as silly.

          I'm not sure about no.1, No.1 was published by MS and they still have publishing rights over it. No.2 is by EA though, so NO.2 could be ported.

          How can it not be planned, as you mentioned, when they take a full year to go ahead and port it?

          MS still owns all publishing rights to 1 and this is a plot-heavy trilogy. It would make little sense to bring 2/3 of a story to a separate platform.

          Read kspiess original comment to clear it up. He said it would need to be planned from the beginning, decided within the planning stages. Those three came out after a year because they weren't originally planned, hence it took so long to port them.

          What I meant was not planned in the beginning. They obviously had to plan it out after deciding they would do it, which all came after the games were out on 360.

          And like I said in another article, there is always a way around that without needing the full first. Bioware aren't stupid. Besides, MS had a contract for a lot of things; didn't stop them from being ported.

          Exclusivity contract is a bit different to owning publishing rights over a game.

    Obviously. I didn't expect anything. If you were someone who started getting excited over a PS3 port just because of a few lines of code, you need to take a good second look at yourself.

    This is turning into a FFVII remake kinda deal.

    The more they deny it the more frequently the rumors will become.
