Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase has recently revealed that the difficulty behind making a Final Fantasy VII remake isn't whether or not the project will go ahead, but that "it is very hard to make games on PlayStation 3 in the same style as the games in that era had."

Yoshinori Kitase also explains that such a problem relates to being unable to currently consider the continual requests for a Final Fantasy 7 remake.

He explains, “This issue is related to whether a Final Fantasy 7 remake will happen or not. It is very hard to make games on PlayStation 3 in the same style as the games in that era had. Making graphics will take enormous time.”

Stop with the excuses and do it already. The sooner an inevitable FFVII remake is done, the sooner we can get a FFVIII one.

Hopefully this will help getting the FFVII Fanboys to shutup and move on.

We don't NEED one, you WANT one.

It probably won't happen, boo hoo, get the hell over it.

Believe it or not, there ARE better games out there

I'd so get this if they made a re-release. The original just doesn't get me the right way. =/

On one hand, I think "Excuses, excuses"

On the other hand, I think of Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children and (to an extent) Crisis Core, and realize he's making a good point. None of those games had a similar "style" to FFVII. It was the same world, sure, but it felt...sterile and empty. They didn't really feel like the original game. It would take a fair bit of effort to make (for example) Midgar's slums as dank, cluttered and disgusting as the original game.
    I hope that makes sense?

But on the other hand (yep, three hands ), Squee already have a basic idea on what the world looks like. Is it really that hard to create this on PS3 when the basic concept already exists?

I think it's also important to put the world map into consideration. Back in 97, we didn't mind seeing a 2 story high cloud walking around the world map, however, that obviously needs to be different for the remake. Seeing a 2 story high cloud in high def would look silly and possibly creepy.

If I recall correctly, they're doing something that'll be remniscent of earlier FF world maps with FFvsXIII? It'll be interesting to see how that turns out, but I wouldn't mind if the remake used the old world map system, even if it does look silly. If anything, it'd be lol-worthy for the nostalgia factor.

And if people complained about it, Squeenix could just say "well you asked for a remake LOL!"

Final Fantasy fans are some of the worst offenders when it comes to gripping the past and painting it as some kind of idealistic world where nothing was wrong - even the bad things were good. They're like those old people that go "Golly gee, it was better way back when" instead of getting with it and understanding that things have to change. It goes beyond nostalgia into some sort of grave fear that one day these games aren't going to even matter to anyone other than themselves and somehow, that's a vicious crime.

    Let it go, bitches.

I don't think it's a crime, just a phobia of growing up in a sense. People have always painted the past in a better light than the present. People love to bitch and they make things up so they can bitch, like the past being so much better than right now.

The only problem preventing them is that they're always working on a million diffrent games at one time. Not to mention they obvioulsy dont know how to use their time. They spend a year and a half developing ff13 on the ps2 and it still takes them another year and a half for it on the next generation. What the hell were they doing for the 1 1/2 years on the ps2? You would think they would have the story, characters, setting and at least the idea of the gameplay because they had to have known there was a chance it was going to have to go to the ps3/360. They need to get some1 in charge that will lay down the law on some of these developers.
