Quantic Dream's boss David Cage recently defended the gore and sex in Heavy Rain, stating that, "the game is not shocking for the sake of being shocking."

Quantic Dream boss Cage told CVG sister publication the Official PlayStation Magazine: "She's fragile, she's vulnerable, she's naked. Okay, now that's out of the way."

He claimed that nothing in Heavy Rain was gratuitous - and that every clothes-less scene had artistic merit.

"The game is not shocking for the sake of being shocking," Cage added. "There's never sex for the sake of sex or gore for the sake of gore. Nothing is gratuitous, and I think everything supports the narrative and emotional immersion of the player."

Tell that to the people complaining about the lack of nudity in Mass Effect 2.

So having a heroine take a (very brief) shower before being chased around by thugs in her underwear is totally necessary to the story in some way?

I'm sure we'll find out why once we get our hands on the game. I'd imagine it adds to the atmosphere it is trying to create or something, haha.

Of course it is. What the hell was the point of that shower scene.

The demo had a horror movie feel to it. The whole time I was searching the crime scene at the wasteland I was waiting for some bit "BLAH" scare that never came.

Question.....It may sound pervy of me, but does the game stop you from going out to the main area nude? Or is clothing required to move on with the story?

Just wondering how much you can do your own thing.

From what I could tell in the demo, it doesn't seem to let you move on until certain actions have been completed. So you don't really have too much say in the matter. Though some are optional, I doubt putting your clothes back on is.
