Tecmo Koei recently posted a 1.84 billion yen ($20.4 million) loss in its third quarter. Strangely enough, they blamed the loss in money on the poor sales of Wii title Samurai Warriors 3.
The company had hoped for the game to be a major title for the Wii, even getting Shigeru Miyamoto involved with the project and hiring Japanese superstar GACKT to sing theme songs, voice act and appear in commercials for the game. They even have plans on hosting a massive Samurai Warriors festival for 80,000 people early next month.
But despite all this star power, Samurai Warriors 3 didn't perform as well as expected.
Koei Tecmo posted a 1.84 billion yen ($20.4 million) loss in its third quarter, blaming the results on poor Wii sales of Samurai Warriors 3. The publisher's major Wii title, despite star power support from Miyamoto and others, failed to attract Japanese gamers.
