Sony Computer Entertainment of America, obviously doesn't support homebrew, buy a member of the 1UP forum asked if Sony is trying to prevent owners from freely running homebrew. Another member who goes by Tamish, sent a message to Sony regarding this and Sony replied that they don't recommend you downloaded this unauthorized software as it may cause damage to your system and your warrenty would be useless. We know this, but are they still trying to scare us from getting homebrew?
Sony Computer Entertainment of America does not support homebrews. Some may be thinking that Sony should actually encourage a community supporting their handheld by giving their time and effort to create free software for it, but apparently, it's not the case.
A member of the 1UP community forums posted this question: "Is Sony trying to prevent users from running freely available homebrews?" Another member, Tamish, took the initiative to send a message to Sony regarding their stand on homebrews and got a reply that most people would expect to get.
Thank you for writing us.
Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc. (SCEA) does not recommend downloading any unauthorized software (i.e. games, movies, etc.) for your PSP(TM) portable entertainment system from the Internet; these software downloads have not been officially tested nor approved by SCEA and may cause damage to your PSP system.
Any damage caused to your PSP system due to your use of unauthorized software downloads will void your Limited Sony Warranty for the PSP system. The only approved network updates can be found at PlayStation.com.
So there you have it folks, Sony is not recommending that we download any unauthorized software as it may cause damage to our systems. Do you think it would have been better if they tried to foster the homebrew community or are they right in limiting users to software they provide?

I've had a psp in the past, and I must say it got old very fast, but the homebrew made it at least intresting/useful for a few extra months.
Do yourself a favor and READ about a system before spewing crap out.
