Michael McWhertor discusses part of what John Schappert said during financial calls. EA has decided that every game they make in 2011 will have DLC and Online Play.

Publisher Electronic Arts is a big, big fan of downloadable content. So much so that it's committing to featuring paid DLC and online play in every single title it releases during the company's fiscal 2011.

It's really only a problem if it's essential data for something like game completion or 100% achievement.

Or if it's something that was completed by the date and should have technically been a part of the game anyway that they're just withholding to get more money.

We brought this on ourselves. The only way DLC culture ends is when we stop buying it. It's a shame that things that should be on the disc get people so excited.. "OMG Borderlands DLC, Only £12.99!! OMG!!" all of it content that should have been on the disc but sold to people at a premium, what EA, UbiSoft and 2K etc are doing is criminal.
