Soon To Wii- Classics Paper Mario and Wave Race 64

skittles07 | July 02, 2007 | News | Nintendo 64 Wii
The Wii will soon have classics: Paper Mario, and Wave Race 64. They will be coming out in Japan this summer. They are currently only to be released for the Japanese Virtual Console.
Nintendo of Japan has confirmed that the Wii’s Virtual Console will see the arrival of two N64 classics this summer, in the form of watery racer Wave Race 64 and flattened-out RPG Paper Mario. Although the pair are currently only slated for release on the Japanese Virtual Console, a western release is nigh on certain to follow.

The two titles more or less book-ended the N64’s lifespan - Wave Race was a launch title in North America and Europe when the console launched there in 1996 and 1997 respectively, while Paper Mario was among the very final few games for Nintendo’s 64-bit console, and the last N64 game published by Nintendo itself, before focus shifted to the GameCube.

Nice to see Paper Mario 64 coming for the Virtual Console. It was a great game I think and I'll probably download it onto my Wii since my N64 version doesn't seem to be working well.

Paper Mario 64 is a legendary game, and it is such a shame that so many people have missed out on the opportunity to play this since it was one of the final games for the N64. Hopefully this will start to change that, and the popularity of Paper Mario 2 will tempt many to download.
