It has been announced that the XBOX 360 would have downloadable content for GTA IV. Now it is confirmed that the PS3 will have downloadable content also.

There are plenty of huge next-gen games scheduled for this year, but two are likely to stand head-and-shoulders above all the others- Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Therefore, when news breaks on things like exclusive downloadable content for the latter, people take notice very, very quickly. And it wasn't long ago that Microsoft paraded their "exclusive" Xbox 360 GTA IV content in front of the industry, even though some industry insiders still claimed the PS3 version would also have downloadable content.

Well, now it appears we have what we like to call a "tentative confirmation" from GameStop. They have listed the PS3 Special Edition of GTA IV at their site, and while you're probably already familiar with the the bundle, we point you in the direction of the following:

Downloadable Content: Yes

It's part of the information outline, and it states very clearly that this PS3 version will have downloadable content. After all, nobody ever said this version wouldn't get extra stuff on the Network; just that particular batch of content - reported earlier - would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version. It also made zero sense to assume Rockstar wouldn't include any sort of added GTA IV content on the Store. Now, we wait to see if the publisher or Sony announces what their exclusive content will be.

I knew it was going to be announced eventually. I just wonder why it took them such a long time to announce it, they should have announced it the moment Microsoft announced the amount of money that they paid for their "exlusive" content.

So this means Microsoft have just wasted $50 million for nothing. Lol.

This could just mean that both versions will have downloadable content, but the Xbox 360 release will feature additional downloads that are exclusive to the system.

Well only if the PS3's content is better which it very well could be, since the PS3 can do native caching the content could be exclusive planes and an island to make the planes worthwhile.

Hold on the special edition what about the regular one, who is going to pay $90+ for a game and get exclusives this should be for all GTA4 games for ps3. And given what the bundle has i say this isnt worth getting.

Stop jumping the gun both versions will have downloadable content, but Gamespot have only had the box art specs for the Special Edition which is going to be identical to the normal edition anyway, and that states downloadable content = yes, add that into the already confirmed exclusive PS3 content that was dwarfed by the Microsoft deal.

I was only saying something based off the article but thats sounds better. LOL seems like they spent so much money to get something that Sony doesn't have only to see they will get exclusive content that they wont get, i hope its better.

But if M$ is throwing down that kind of cash, you'd expect them to have the better content if you ask me, which is one reason why I'm getting it for the 360 instead of the PS3. That $50 million is only an advance, by the way, they have to pay Rockstar even more cash by the time that DLC is out.

Crazy rich bastard that M$ company is, heh.

Exactly. If Microsoft is paying over $50 million for exclusive content for the XBOX 360 version I'm expecting the XBOX 360's content to be better then the PS3's content unless Sony decides to shell out $50 million for exclusive content as well.

I'm betting that the PS3 version will probably get more down loadable content, due to the fact that the 360 has been holding the development of IV back ... Grr !

It had better be a lot of content considering how much Rockstar have been backstabbing Sony over the last year
