Our favorite troubled, down on the luck, heavy reuser of decade-old assets and owners of a god-terrible localization arm, Nippon Ichi, have today reaffirmed their desires to send themselves out of business amidst their falling revenues after they realized they can't be arsed to actually make new assets. Their American branch, NIS America, king of horrid localizations that would make Zero Wing proud, have announced that they will start publishing anime in the US.
Their first anime series that they are ready to remove half the vocal tracks and run the script through a Google translator for are (the actually good) Toradora!, Pandora Hearts, Wagaya no Oinarisama, and the pretty freaking bad Persona ~trinity soul~. Never you mind the fact that the company is trying to fix their freefalling bottom line by trying to enter a market whose bubble has already burst.
It was nice knowing you, NIS. (not really)
NIS America will be expanding from localizing games to becoming a regular force in anime translation as well, beginning with Toradora!, Persona: Trinity Soul, PanodraHearts, and Our Home’s Fox Deity. Release dates and premium box informatin will come soon. All are expected to be finished in “mid 2010.”

Seriously, you make it out like they are some horrible company that churns out shovelware, and that's not the case. Sure, the graphics are dated, but the games are fun, addicting, and gives you great bang for buck (tons of hours of gaming).
And upon actually reading the (very short) article, ummmm.....Nowhere does it say they're trying to get OUT of gaming. They're just getting INTO anime....Keyword in article is "Expansion", not "Shifting", no mention of Dropping games...
Though I must agree that them making the jump to anime is a pretty odd decision....Their Disgaea anime left a lot to be desired (though it was OK).
And then there's the amazing awful localizations from NISA.
You also 'sounded' pleased at the idea of them going out of business.
So naturally I first thought they were going out of the gaming business...
Your opinion of the company heavily colors the article to the point it seems like a "Going out of (the gaming) business" thing, instead of an "Odd move for a company in dire straits" thing >_>
Wish I had seen this info first *sighs*
