Harry Potter Tops UK Release Charts

Beating out such new releases as the Darkness, and Resident Evil 4, and other such film tie-ins as Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End, EA's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game is number one.

EA's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has jumped into the number one spot in the UK all-formats charts this week, as the top forty is shaken up with a batch of high-profile new releases.

Take 2's new IP The Darkness makes a strong debut at number two this week, fending off Activision's movie tie-in Shrek the Third.

    This has got to be either die hard fans or clueless parents; those games suck.

    Although, to be fair, I only played one of them for ten minutes, five years ago.

    I have to agree with Deis. Hopefully they've improved, the games are kind of repetative in game play etcetera, needs more stuff. It's a shock though, didn't see it coming.

    All movie games suck to be honest. And I would agree with you on thinking it's most likely the die hard fans that buy it, God knows there's enough of them.

    Only game I got was Philosophers Stone which was rubbish.

    I'll stick to the books and films thanks.

    I love my Harry Potter so I quite want this. Sure I fully understand why people find the games rubbish and boring but for me and many other people they are enjoyable, being able to interact in the world we've spent hours upon hours reading about, it's enjoyable.

    Oh and I should have said, I'm still really suprised by it getting to number 1 spot! I guess there are more Harry Potter fanatics in the UK than I thought...

    The Prisoner of Azkaban game was pretty cool with the Eye Toy games included with it. That's the favorite part of that game for us.

    That's crazy. I personally think the Harry Potter games suck since I rented two of them before and only played them for like an hour before getting bored. I can't believe it sold better then Resident Evil 4.

    I only played the first two, and they did suck.. But this game is supposed to be open-world styled.. Sort of like Grand Theft Auto.. It looked promising to be honest.
