At Nintendo of Australia's media summit today, IGN AU has confirmed with Nintendo that the publisher's two hotly anticipated titles, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M will actually see early releases this year. The sequel to Mario's galactic adventures will see a release in the land down under in June, and Team Ninja's take on the Metroid series will see an August release.
Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe will have their media summits tomorrow, so we can see if these dates will hold for the rest of the world.
As part of Nintendo Australia's major announcements today, IGN can confirm that two of Nintendo's most anticipated titles are on their way to Wiis much sooner than originally anticipated.
Both Super Mario Galaxy 2, follow-up to 2007's smash platformer, as well as Metroid: Other M (Team Ninja's take on the seminal sci-fi adventure/platformer) are both due for release between June and August this year.
Nintendo Australia's Greg Arthurton reiterated that both titles were most definitely not holiday season releases. This leaves an interesting vacancy for 'other' major releases over this period, we'd speculate.
This news comes ahead of tomorrow's Nintendo press event being held in the US. IGN US will be in attendance to confirm these details.

I had a feeling that we'd be seeing a June release and that makes sense to me anyways. Kick off the summer with a big title like Galaxy 2 and end it with Metroid. Hopefully both games will be good games and not end up disappointments.
Ah well. I have until June.
Better start saving for Galaxy 2 now.
