Ah the loading screen, how much gamers hate you. Many games now have luckily been able to bring loading down to less than a minute, with a few getting rid of all loading screens. God Of War 3 will be one of the few, as confirmed through Santa Monica Studios through twitter.

Yes you did read the title of this article properly. God of War III, the game that some are calling the PS3 system seller will not have any loading screens, as well as having no install upon booting up the game. Confirming on twitter, Christer Ericson, the Director of Technology at Sony Santa Monica Studio, said the following;

And since people asked: #GoW3 has seamless loading. No install, followed by 10+ hours of play uninterrupted by load screens!

    No God Of War game so far has had loading screens, not even Chains Of Olympus on PSP, so this doesn't come as a surprise. The surprise is that they've managed to pull that trick off on PS3 without an install, from a 35GB Blu-Ray disc, which is a staggering achievement.

      Probably had the help of Naughty Dog for that one as Uncharted 2 did the whole background loading and streaming, which is pretty much the only technology that could make such a high data intensive game like this work without loading screens.

    Wouldn't it be more worthy of news if GoW3 did have loading screens... I mean consider that neither of first two did.

      It's pretty badass when you consider the fact that the PS3's Blu-Ray drive has a pretty slow disc drive relative to that of the standard drive speed.

      It just goes to show you, talented developers find a way. There is no excuse. It kills me to see comments coming from developers that talk about how they simply were not able to do something because of the hardware, meanwhile another developer found a way to do it and do it better. I mean seriously, what does that say about your company? The worst part is it generally comes from a figurehead that probably knows nothing about the process of actually designing a game to begin with. Making all the underpaid and overworked designers who actually managed to make a playable game within too-short a time frame.

    Action games like this just suffer if they have loading screens. I cant remember if Dante's had loading or not.
