During its initial release late last year, the Sony PSP Go hasn't exactly garnered the attention that Sony thought it would. Some blame piracy, while others have gawked at the portable's high price tag. In a recent interview, the vice president of PR for SCEA has admitted the company's challenges.

Hey, when you're realising a online-only content console, you've got to expect that.

They were blaming the PSP's problems on piracy, not the PSP Go. I also don't know much about CFW on the Go, but I'd assume it's a lot harder to pirate games for the Go.

Of course the PSP Go was overpriced, just like the PS3 when it came out.

Wasn't overpriced, they were losing like $38 on each console.

Now.. Go back 4 years and they were losing $400 on each consolem the console originally cost Sony $900 to make and Sony sold the system for about $500 brand new.

4 years? $500? Lol, a little over 3 years ago on launch Sony were loosing about $200, because it cost them about $800 I think, and they sold their launch units for $600

I don't think there will ever be a handheld system that can't be hacked and exploited for piracy. Good job on making your PS3 unhackable so for though, Sony

I don't think hand held hacking is a big deal, I guess now people do because of the American AdHoc mode with the PSP.

Sony seriously needed to launch more commercials or something on it, I only saw one or two.

    I call shenanigans!

I definitely remember hearing plainly from someone who wasn't part of the PR crowd but was a higher up in the PSPGo's development/pricing . . . . I think, but they weren't PR. They specifically admitted something along the lines of "There's a window of opportunity when you launch a product, that early adopters will jump at the product no matter the price. So we're taking that opportunity. We'll lower the price later on though."

    Highly Paraphrased of course!

Yeah, the thing didn't look very good in the commercial. I even heard it wasn't worth it.

The reason this thing isn't selling isn't because of the price, but because it lost a very important part of the PSP Systems, the damn UMD Discs. Seriously, you can't call this a PSP at all if it's not even backwards compatible. Not everyone likes the idea of Digital Downloading, specially when you're spending way more money on it than buying physical discs. Seriously, Memory Stick Micro's are far more expensive than Micro SD cards. Although it doesn't show for the lower GBs, once you hit the 8 GB range, you start noticing a HUGE difference in price. God forbid that you decide to buy them from Sony.

And the games take a bit of space too. With the PSP Go's limited 16 GBs of space, you can, at an average probably fit 16 games on there (they range from 700 Mbs to 1.4 GBs), but what if you want to put music? Well, you don't have anymore space, but you can add more storage view the Memory Stick Micro, but you know you want to go big on this thing because you know you're gonna want to play more games. Then if you fill that bad boy up, you can always buy another one, but then you run into the problem of having to switch between cards now, and that's annoying as hell.

The PSP Go CAN work, don't get me wrong, I kinda want to get one myself, but they're not going to get my money if they don't expand that horrible limited memory of theirs or if they put the UMD drive back into the thing.
