Final Fantasy XIII's Western release is just around the corner, and already Square Enix have plans for Final Fantasy XV. XIII's producer Yoshinori Kitase didn't reveal what any of those plans were, but said that they have "got a few ideas lined up, but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go."

Final Fantasy XIII hasn’t even released in the west yet, and there still isn’t a lot of word about Final Fantasy XIV (Online). But the developing giant is already making plans for Final Fantasy XV (yes, 15!), as revealed by XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase.

When asked about the future of the series in the latest issue of Xbox World 360, Kitase admitted: “We’ve got a few ideas for Final Fantasy XV lined up, but there is no singular aim for where we want the series to go. Final Fantasy can go in all directions, each one is very different from the last. The one thing we set out to do is to make sure we tell a story that hasn’t been told before.”

Murder it, bury it, burn it.. Do anything, but kill this series before it destroys itself.

Meh this is the first one since I started playing FF with FFVIII that I have very little interest in so maybe it's already destroyed itself in my eyes.

You cant destroy the Final Fantasy series... Each game is separate which means the series can go on forever. This is not like a series that milks itself like Final Fantasy 7 specifically. I hope Final Fantasy never stops, because it is a new and different RPG each and every time.

Having said this, FFXV already... you still have to plan for 3 more FFXIII titles after Versus and Agito? I think even SE has forgotten about the 6 FNC titles they promised us...

If they aren't going to kill it make the next game an FPS RPG.

How does 'Not Killing it' and 'Make a FPS' go in the same sentence?

Rabla read a comment I made earlier about destroying this game before it destroys itself... The comments kinda tie in together.

Ah Final Fantasy. I don't hate it, but the people who are obsessed with the characters annoy me. Right now there's an XIII add for preordering it on this page.

I say to just get rid of it, I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts more than this stuff...

I hope Final Fantasy never dies. Seriously. I hope when I'm 35 Final Fantasy XX will be coming out.

I really don't care. If they start to suck it won't matter to me, and it shouldn't matter to anyone. The whole mindset that if the games start to suck it will somehow "ruin" the great games to come before it is just retarded. Nearly all of them are self-contained. It would be different if there was an over-arching story.

It's like James Bond. It has it's highs and lows, but you can always count on them to have high production values and provide at least a semblance of entertainment in some form and I hope both are around forever.

It's amazing Square Enix ever finishes their games. Even if it takes 5+ years longer than it should have.

Doesn't anyone working on Square Enix get angry working on a game for 2 weeks only to go to a new game, only to start thinking of ideas of a sequel to a game that hasn't even been announced yet?

I would enjoy a western developer like EA going over to Square Enix HQ and showing them how to manage projects. EA would get Square pumping out a game a year in no time.

Then you, my friend, would hate working for Tetsuya Nomura. I swear, the guy's announced like three new projects in addition to the numerous ones he's already working on. At this rate, he'll be lucky to get another game out before the next millenium.
