I don't know if I like that idea. I mean it certainly is already like a movie, but still it will taint how good the game is, by association.

As does all film adaptations of games succeeds in doing. JK. It's definitely "easier" for a Heavy Rain film to be made, the groundwork and stuff wouldn't require too much background, just need to examine the game's complexity...but it's still not the right idea. Reminds me of Gamer, film acting as a game, in a sense.

This has better chance than many considering the actors are already there, it's not a case of a voice actor looking nothing like the character a designer made. The actors in this game look like that characters so the transition would be seamless, all it needs is a good script and if New Line Cinema were smart they would keep David Cage on board as both writer and director. The rest would fall into place pretty easily.

True, but what are the odds of this happening? We can all elaborate on what can make these adaptations great on the big screen, but in the end it just...never happens. There's other games that use models for their characters in great detail, though not as direct and big as Heavy Rain did.

The actors that voiced the characters in the game look like the characters in the game. They were all motion captured so that their likeness was digitized.

Because of this the same actors that played Ethan and company could easily reprise their roles in a film and would look and sound like they did in the game.

I'm just going to throw this out there, but personally, I feel like only feeble minded people allow separate entities to ruin something they already have a fondness of.

It just doesn't make any sense, not if you possess any kind of ability to produce intelligent thoughts.

This doesn't mean I think a Heavy Rain movie should be made, I don't think it's necessary, but it would in no way tarnish my appreciation for the game. And let's be honest, if it ended up being an incredible movie, no one would complain.

I agree. Take for example, the Doom film. It wasn't met with warm arms, surely, but that doesn't change the fact that the Doom series has been decent. Then again, I can't say that I liked Doom 3's style of flashlight or gun, never combining the two...but still, point in case, I still enjoy the series.

        I agree.

While not the whole movie, I feel that the Nemesis in RE Apocalypse was ruined. But that doesn't change the fact that the Nemesis in the RE3 game is my favourite video game monster of all time.

Note I merely mentioned that it would ruin the game by association . . . meant to be taken in general. I love the game. No movie would mess that up for me. However, someone who has not played the game yet, would perhaps see it otherwise if the movie left a certain impression on them.

I'm not too keen on making a video game into a movie, unless it was really good. Heavy Rain is a great game, but when they try to turn a game into a movie they usually fail, even if they have the best director.

Hopefully if they do make it into a movie, it'll be worth watching.

What I want to know is will it be a Heavy Rain film or just a film based on Heavy Rain? Only once I receive my answer will I consider it further.

Probably a unique story based on Heavy Rain.

I say this considering a murder mystery film doesn't work well if it's following the same script of a game where people already know the killers identity.

Oh my god. Leave it be. Without the fact that the story is playable and has multiple consequences, it would be pretty mediocre as a stand alone movie. Was an interesting game. That's all.

I've only played the demo, and even just from that I can tell it could make for a good movie.

The thing people have to understand is that movies and games are different mediums and therefore they are adaptations of the respective source material. A good adaptation is almost always better than a scene for scene remake. That goes without saying.

For example, what if you wanted to turn a videogame into a book? That would suck if you did it scene for scene. "Master chief enters room, master chief shoots dudes. He finds ammo. Needs health. Master chief enters next room. Shoots dudes, etc." You can't just do things like that.

Heavy Rain could be adapted into a movie with ease, and a good one at that.

Heavy Rain has about 65 scenes, due to your choices the player only see's about 40 of those in a playthrough. These are the 40 that you need to see for the story to make sense. It isn't hard to imagine that Heavy Rain could be a very good movie, if they just limit the number of scenes and increase the amount of information given in each scene. Without choice and without gameplay Heavy Rain could easily be a very good 3 hour movie.

They would never make it that long. I would estimate they would cut it into a film under 100 minutes, which of course would make it feel too rushed.

I just hope they don't base the game exactly by the movie. I like it when a good director puts their creative touch on things.
