Ex-Dice boss has spoken out on the Wii, calling it "a virus" and "not a video game machine." His complaints come mostly from how no one uses the Wii and its lost is sole purpose of playing video games. He know owns a company that develops casual games for hardcore gamers (odd?). What are your thoughts on this? Agree or disagree?

"The people that only own the Wii, ask that consumer how often they use their machine. They just don't use it, it was cool, but they're not gamers, so they put it away.

"Other than the Wii Fit phenomenon that helped a lot of people get a nice cutie voice telling that they're fat and need to go work out, they need to find other alternatives. Nintendo is smart in that way in that they realize this is not a video game machine, this is not a games game machine."

Odd, I thought people avoided viruses.

You can't avoid what you can't see. However, to make the metaphor work, knowledge is like a vaccine.

It works in other ways too, it lasts about three or four days. Then you move on to something else.

Unless you take a long time to finish Zelda and Mario, that is.

"They just don't use it, it was cool, but they're not gamers, so they put it away." I resent this. I'm a hardcore gamer and I use the wii ALOT. This weekend total i've played wii more than 14hours. Now I agree some people think it is a toy but some good games that gamers like are on the wii.

He's like 12. I know him from another forum.

I think the Wii is geared towards the younger community. Meaning most people 10-13 won't game really hard unless they're socially inept.

PS3 and 360 are for hardcore gamers, the Wii.... is just plain fun. It is a toy.

I don't see how 'virus' is a fitting choice of words given his general point. How 'toy' correlates to 'virus' is beyond me and the only analogy he's given makes me think that it's more on the premise of ruffling a few feathers.

Either way I couldn't care less I still vastly prefer the Wii to either of the other current generation consoles for various reasons. Although I suppose the fact that I predominently play games on the PC leaves my opinion of the consoles pretty irrelevent in general given that I think they're all mediocre.

I really like the Wii and play it on a regular basis (every day for about two months now, every other day before that and non stop for a couple of months when I bought it) which really, is what everyone does with their console. Don't agree at all, guy's an idiot who's generalizing.

      "generalizing"

No shit, that's the point. The fact it's a generalization at all means it applies to most people.

When it doesn't, that's my point genius.

If it were you point you would have actually said so. GG. Guess what? The generalization is pretty accurate.

You didn't comprehend what I was saying and felt the need to be rude and swear for no reason, that's a bit sad. And if it's accurate in your opinion, then cool that is your opinion. It doesn't make it fact my friend, you should develop a better attitude for when you're on GameGrep, it's hardly impressive in its current state.

Wow, I smell the biggest public fanboy I can imagine. Or . . . is it more like he's an "anti-fanboy" to the wii, since he's so hugely against the Wii.

What in the world is wrong with the Wii? Do people feel threatened by it and that's why there's the constant feel to need to bash the console? Or are these people just trying to act cool and hardcore so they bash it? Mixture of both?

The wii is a console. It is a console many people like and have a right to enjoy. If you don't like the games it doesn't mean something is wrong with those who do.

I not sure about the general population but i personally hate my wii for the sole reason that there aren't enough games with retail value e.g. fallout 3 is $30 while wii music is $50 (based off the pricing from the local stores cuz i live in CAN) and while i've put well over 50 hours into fallout 3 (still having fun!) i barely managed to squeeze 4 hellish hours of playtime out of wii music. I know some of you might just say that the wii has other actual quality titles such as Madworld, Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda and Metroid series, No more Heroes but the fact is there just aren't enough games to keep me playing and most new releases turn out to be shovelware. The wii can be good but devs need to focus on innovating instead of just waggle controls and creating intresting gameplay over making every game have 4 player co-op, until then i'll be scouting the wastes annihilating baddies with my tesla cannon.

Was the Wii EVER made out as a Console for Hardcore Gamers?

Seriously, people need to get the hell over it. We've gone through these arguements a 100 times now.
