A reports on the revelation that UK online discount coupon outlet MyVoucherCodes.co.uk is predicting that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will outsell the PlayStation 3 release by a ratio of 2:1.

Though many could easily stand-up and proclaim that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII would likely perform incredibly well within the UK, thanks largely to the vast amount of consumer support for the system over-and-above that which Sony’s PlayStation 3 console currently benefits from. However, few would’ve predicted that which MyVoucherCodes.co.uk have suggested, that Final Fantasy XIII will see sales on the Xbox 360 format double that of the PlayStation 3 equivalent.

Now I know this means pretty much nothing but on a site I visit even the people that buy multiplatform games for the 360 over the PS3 are getting it for PS3 because it's the better version. How much better isn't known. But the 360 version is supposed to be I think 18GB while the PS3 version is I think 38GB.

Well it somewhat makes sense. There are more 360s out there than PS3s. And, even if the PS3 version is better than the 360 and thus you will buy the PS3 version instead, how many 360 owners also own a PS3? Not that many...

I'm not saying it will outsell the PS3 version. I'm just pointing out why it may be possible.

Actually I know lot's of people (not personally) who own both a 360 and a PS3.

Even if you knew a thousand people that still wouldn't matter to the millions out their who only own 1 console.

It really doesn't make that much sense. The 360 really hasn't sold that many more units than the PS3.

The 360 is kinda floating ahead on like 1 million units more at this point. I think the main difference is the Xbox 360 gamers are quicker to part with their cash. You see it everytime Halo comes out, that game sells like 6 million in a month the average PS3 exclusive sells like 2 million in a year.

That may be down to the age of gamers on Xbox 360, the 360 has become the new PS2 where a shit ton of kids own it, all of which with expendable money. PS3 kinda prides itself on being the more adult oriented console and adults have jobs they don't always have the time to buy the latest releases and this shows in sales figures, on a quality basis every PS3 exclusive for the last 2 years should have sold 12 million like Halo did but they just don't.

Highly doubt it, in fact, ill go out on a limb and say the reverse. Anyone with both systems will get the PS3 version with all the crap that is come up recently regarding the 360 version. This will be the first major game where the PS3 beats the 360 in the West in terms of sales.

I'm with ya ShadowGuard, based off the fact that the PS3 is more popular in Europe. Also, are we not including all the copies of FFXIII already sold in Japan?

I agree. Considering the PS3 is the default platform, Final Fantasy is generally seen as a Sony franchise, and the PS3 version has some advantages over the the 360 one, I would presume the opposite, though it could go either way.

The ps3 may be more popular in Europe, but not in the Uk. I don't think 360 sales will double ps3, that's going too far, but an extra 500,000 360 sales probably isn't going too far... Obviously, western or global sales totals will favour the ps3, but the in the UK alone I'm not so sure.
