After a long night of phone calls and emails, Binge Gamer's James Walker was able to squeeze some bits of info out of anonymous Activision employees regarding the current situation at Infinity Ward. One of the biggest bits of news: Infinity Ward hasn't received royalty checks for Modern Warfare 2.

As anyone who follows my Twitter is aware, I spent the better part of Monday night (Tuesday morning on the East Coast) calling everyone I knew who was associated with Activision. Most of them didn’t tell me much of anything. To those people, I apologize for continuously bugging you at all hours of the night. However a few people were willing to give me some information on what was going on at Infinity Ward so long as they were anonymous....

Infinity Ward has yet to be paid a single dime in royalties for Modern Warfare 2, which has earned Activision over one billion dollars in revenue.

It seems Activision is made up of the same sorts of people as the dominant voice in its fanbase. Jerks.

Activision better pay-up or 1 of 3 things will happen.
    1) lawsuit
    2) IW tries to go independent
    3) both...

I'm hoping for both, though it would probably hurt IW in the long run. :S

Geez, no wonder IW doesn't look to be in much of a rush to fix their game. They're not getting any benefits..

Activision turn out to be dickheads as they collect the interest on Infinity Ward royalties? Sad, but not a big surprise, hollywood film studios have been pulling similar shit for years.

There are no words to describe how much fail Activision can produce in a day. One of these days they're going to get boycotted, I swear...

This is the perfect timing for Sony to get back at Activision and buy the studio out. Not only are they a (mostly) competent studio, but Sony would have a sucker punch for FPS games on the PS3. Sony would also be willing to let them take the ball and run with an idea for a new concept rather than lock them into CoD for all eternity.

TBH I REALLY don't think they're all that competent...

Edit: Skimmed over it too fast. Apparently IW DOES own some rights to CoD.

Either way, IW wouldn't let Sony OR Microsoft buy them out. They know where the money is at: Multiplats

Right now though Smoke the money isn't anywhere other than Bobby Koticks pocket. The money is in multiplat, but not with a publisher like Activision who haven't paid them a cent of it. IW made Activision over $1 billion, to not see even a fraction is messed up.

I wouldn't call it copyright infringement. Anyone could say what they said, and it wouldn't necessarily be a reference to MW2.

TBH I think IW shouldn't get anything.

This article is highly innaccurate. Infinity Ward is a wholly owned subsidiary of activision. That means ATVI owns the call of duty franchise outright, ATVI owns Infinity Ward outright and everything inside the IW offices. IW will not be sold on their terms since ATVI owns the studio. How can this guy writes for a gaming site and have no fixking knowledge of the ownership of one of the most popular develoment studios at the moment. And for those of u that want the proof
, just go read ATVI's last 10-k filing. the author of that article is an idiot.
