Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies also marks several firsts for the main series. Not only the first to be initially launched for a handheld system, but also Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is the first game in the Dragon Quest series be designed primarily with the intent of being a multiplayer videogame.
