The man behind No More Heroes, Goichi Suda (better known as Suda 51), has voiced his opinion on the upcoming motion control technology that is being created by Sony and Microsoft...

No More Heroes was originally planned to be an Xbox 360 exclusive, but once Suda saw the technology Nintendo were to offer with the Wii, the title changed platforms. When asked about the supposed ‘Arc’ and Project Natal though, the Grasshopper Manufacture CEO’s comments went against the Sony peripheral, and favoured the control free Natal.

“Why develop a game for the competition (Sony) while their device is exactly the same as Nintendo’s?” he said, in an interview with Gamers.fr. “I'm not really excited about the gadget from Sony. Natal is great, it would be interesting to work on it”

So he's not interested in a control that mimics and expands on the control scheme that made his game playable, and yet likes the sound of a technology that for two generations has been tried and failed as controller-less gaming has massive barriers to overcome.

Controller-less gaming is more of a gimmick than the Wii. I can't even imagine myself sitting in front of my TV, playing a FPS game or something like that, without a controller of some kind. Sure, "pretending" to hold a rifle and aiming it as you would in real life might be fun for a (short) while, but I would get tired of it.

No, I think I'll stick to my controllers, thank you very much.

Never played a light-gun game I take it?

Well, actually I have. Though you could argue that the light-gun is still a controller.

I still can't see Natal working tbh. The Wii remote and presumably by extension the Arc have application in a variety of genres, I really don't think completely removing the controller from the equation really works.

How does one pause a game in Natal? Do they have to break the rules of Natal and use a controller or is it some gesture. I could imagine someone having to spin around, jump and clap three times to pause Halo. While I do merely joke, Microsoft will have to do lots and lots to convince me that Natal is the future.

So what if he doesn't like Arc? That's his decision to make. Though TBH arc facilitates NMH much better than NATAL...
