You would think Square Enix have a pretty good idea of how high the demand for a Final Fantasy VII remake is.
Apparently not.
A few days ago, on their official Twitter account, Square Enix asked for fans' opinions on a possible FFVII remake. The Twitter page was then flooded with so many positive answers, Square Enix had to ask people to stop posting comments because they were so overwhelmed by the response!

Recently, Square-Enix posted on it's official Twitter account asking for people's opinions on a possible Final Fantasy VII remake. Ever since the infamous tech demo shown at E3 way back in 2005, fans of the game have been begging for a remake from Square-Enix.

Of course, after the countless amounts of teasing coming from Square-Enix, the response on their official twitter was huge!

Square-Enix's official twitter was chock-a-block with positive fan responses, so much so that they had to ask people to stop because they were so overwhelmed.

Idiots, seriously they are idiots. The fans have been shouting "FFVII Remake" since Square Enix showed the HD and revamped FFVII trailer at E3 like 4 years ago. Surely these guys aren't that ignorant that they only realised what we wanted through Twitter.

    Wow...Squeenix, I mean really...

Yeah, that tech demo for the PS3 was something else, enough to get people pumped for a possible remake. But this...this is just sad.

Well, at the same time I guess you could say that we the fans are a bit narrow-minded. We only see what we want to see, and hear what we want to hear. The tech demo was only a tech demo, yet the fans immediately took it as a possible hint toward a remake. We don't see the many problems and difficulties that comes with trying to make a remake like that, we only want it to happen, and now! Meh, the old game is awesome as it is. I don't need a remake. It would be fun, but I'm more than satisfied with the regular version.

There is your answer SquareEnix, now do something about it... Even a 3 year old child in Africa knows this! (exaggeration)

Sweet, I hope it happens then.

Meh, The only way i'd like a remake, is if the only thing that changed was the graphics and EVERYTHING ELSE stayed the EXACT SAME.

ANY change to FF7 except a graphical one would seriously destroy it.

      What about...voice-acting?

        blazeboy11 Mar 6, 10
No, voice acting is terrible for old games/franchises with recurring characters, as people start to develop their own ideas for how the characters sound, and tend to dislike the voice actors just for being different than their imagination.

Might not be an issue if they use the voice actors from Advent Children, I never watched the film myself so I don't know how good they were.

Yeah, of course the group from AC. They fit the characters if you ask me. The same team returned to do the VO work for Dirge of Cerberus.

They gave plenty of these characters voices in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. :S No one seemed to mind it that much.

A remake has to have voice acting, period... That is the #2 reason why people want a remake behind graphics.

The voice acting from AC and DoC was pretty good (mostly good, anyway). But if Squeenix have learnt anything from fans over the last few years, it's that they should include the option to turn the voice acting off. And include the option to switch to Japanese voice acting.

Do you realize the script for that game is absolute crap? Everything is far too campy, vague and full of the stupid cliches and contrivances that make RPGs facepalm worthy. That being said, I adore the game and love it to bits?

Aww. I liked the FFVII script. Besides the crappy translations in some areas ("This guy are sick!"), the characters talked how regular people talked. I always liked that about FFVII's characters. It made them more relateable than, say, FFXII's cast.

If they changed the script, I wouldn't go near the remake, the script is one of the things that if changed would practically destroy FFVII, the script is by far the main thing that makes it fantastic,

Don't even start to say crazy shit like that. You would still get the game if they changed the script. Who are you kidding?

          FinalFantasyFanaticc Mar 7, 10
Haha, who're you to say I would still get the game?

I wouldn't, i'd just play the original still.

I'm just a guy with an educated guess that says if you are such a large fan of Final Fantasy VII you would be able to overlook changes in a script and simply enjoy the visual overhaul it would get and the huge nostalgia it would bring back regardless of the original script intact or not.

To those wanting a remake, answer me this question:

Name one successful remake/port/etc. where graphics were the ONLY thing that got updated.
    • 0
      ruledbysecrecy Mar 8, 10
Absolutely man! If the guys doing the remake are smart they'll update the things that should have been better in the first place, like the script, and poke fun at it with new dialogue as well. A la REmake.

It's not out yet, but Perfect Dark?

        That's a port, not a remake.

I thumbed you up, my bad, I'm just so used to people not understanding how to properly use the "reply" function on this website.

ThreeTwoFiveSix, Perfect Dark is getting GoldenEye maps and online play. Thus, it doesn't count.

Hey I'm still hoping for V and VI to get remakes. Only way I'd care about VII is if they released a DS port when they released the remake. Why? Cause I'm a prick that normally likes watching T.V. while playing handhelds. Yes I'd like to see it with better graphics but I wouldn't play it as much because I'm one of the poor guys that feel for the Aerith resurrection rumors and could quote half the story.
