In an interesting development in the internet virtual community, "Second Life", Kevin Alderman, a self proclaimed enterpreneur in the game is suing a profile of another user for supposedly copying his virtual device, "Sex gen", which is a virtual sex toy developed by Alderman for Second life users and getting profits which are supposed to be entitled to Alderman.
According to Alderman, He may be using the device for a cyber reality, however since it is bringing in real profits for him, he cannot let this slide past him.
To further complicate matters, as of yet the identity of the mystery avatar is not yet known, but Alderman is asking for a court order to force the creators of Second Life to reveal the identity of the User to him.
Kevin Alderman thinks of himself as "the Hugh Hefner of the digital millennium."
He has built a virtual adult entertainment empire, making and selling cyber sex toys in a three-dimensional online world known as "Second Life," a hugely popular Internet community with 7 million residents.
On Tuesday, his company, Eros, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court claiming the avatar known as Volkov Catteneo has violated the trademark on one of his devices called a Sex Gen. Eros claims the avatar has made unauthorized copies of the device and is selling it for a profit.
Alderman's products may exist only in cyberspace, but they bring in real money. Alderman recently sold a virtual representation of Amsterdam he created for $50,000 through eBay.
