On his latest Twitter, Hideo Kojima has claimed that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will "create new users"... among other (rather confusing) things.

Mad genius Hideo Kojima has been using his Twitter account to do what he does best -- babble incomprehensibly about things and making the rest of us scratch our heads. The Metal Gear Solid creator has remarked upon a game we know next to nothing about, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, though what he says is typically vague and silly.

"The next MGS ... RISING," begins the director. "This game will create new users, be developed by the new generation, a new MGS, but on the other hand, [Peace Walker] is made by Hideo Kojima, a new but classical MGS. PW is a new type of game design and experimental for future endeavours. So it is hard to say it will finish with one game ..."

MGS does not need to be changed to accommodate new users. They had a working formula and I think they should stick to it.

Fact probably is that Kojima didn't even propose Rising, he's just overseeing it because it's his own intellectual property.

Translation: Rising is going to be a very different kind of game from what we're used to in the Metal Gear franchise. (Possibly being a true action/TPS or FPS game) with more well rounded elements and gameplay mechanics (The MGS series has been stale for quite a while, and it took them too long to get the camera system up to date with the times). If Rising is going to be advertised heavy action game, you can be the gameplay is going to feel pretty alien to what MGS players are used to, and as such, will appeal to a different kind of gamer crowd than those that would prefer the old style of Metal Gear games. (I find those people to be fewer and fewer in number as changes in gaming are forcing people to accept higher standards)

And people thought it was a big deal that MGS was coming out on 360. It won't even be an MGS game by the end of it.
