February 2010 has been the most successful in the Xbox 360's history, Microsoft has announced. NPD figures show that the console sold over 400,000 units, outstripping its competitors. CEO Dennis Durkin linked the success to the anticipation of Project Natal.
Microsoft has revealed that last month was the most profitable February in the Xbox 360's history. According to NPD figures, the console outsold its competitors in the hardware chart with 422,000 units shifted. The platform also enjoyed considerable success in the software charts, capturing four of the top ten positions. BioShock 2 was the bestselling 360 title of the month and third-party game sales exceeded $170 million (£110 million).

Nice! Shows that the 360 is still going strong even though it's the oldest of this gens consoles.
So I would predict the that the sales were more as a result of the fantastic review scores and general consensus that Mass Effect 2 could very well be the 2010 Game of the Year.
Microsoft are rocking along nicely. Lets hope all three companies have their share of success this year so us gamers can continue to get lots of fantastic titles!
That being said about the 400,000 units sold. Doesn't have a patch when PS3 started shipping 1,000,000 near numbers for the month before and after the PS3 price cut, slim introduction & UC2.
THATs how you sell shit XD
Maybe there's a correlation here with people with the RROD beyond the 3 year limit.
SINCE the 360 has been out longer than 3 years. So it being out for 5 years proves nothing at all. In fact, it enforces my theory.
I'm basing it off the fact that nothing has really come out to sell 360's in February and the fact that we did not sell 360's well at all. Bioshock 2 might have done well, but who seriously bought a 360 for it?
I agree about FFF's comments though
Probably Mass Effect 2 had a hand, but I'm thinking these numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt now because apparently Xbox has twice the install base of a PS3...
Right...you decide.
