Virtua Fighter 5 will have online capabilities on the 360, but a " no comment " was made from the Sony side of things, leading to the discussion, " Is the PS3's version even going to have online capabilities ?!?! "

Get this, VF fans: the Xbox 360 Virtua Fighter 5 will include online versus play.

Confirmed by Sega this afternoon, this will come as a huge surprise to VF fans, who've decreed that the game's split-second timing would make unsuitable for the lag-ridden world of online gaming.

And this will come as an equal disappointment to owners of the PS3 version, which lacks online game play completely. We asked Sega if the PS3 version may receive and online-enabling update, to which it replied "no comment". Fingers crossed though, eh?

Its good to hear that they are offering this game for online for the 360 but a shame so far that they haven't said anything about the Ps3, im sure they would allow online capabilities for the ps3 as I though it would only look bad on themselves to fans if they did not.

Oh I can't help but grin at another defeat for PS3 owners and a leap of joy for us 360 players. But if I had Virtua Fighter 5 on PS3 I would give up on future online play. I can't think of a few games that have been released and then later on get an update which enables online play. Slim chance it'll happen but when they answered "no comment" towards it I can't help but think PS3 gamers will be missing out.

Interesting. I'm sure if the XBOX 360 has online play then the PS3 will have online play as well. I mean it makes no sense to give one version of the game online play and not give the other version online mode as well. It would be unfair for PS3 owners unless Microsoft shelled out some dough to bring online mode to the series only for the XBOX 360.

You do understand that the game is already out on the Playstation 3 without online play right? Therefore what bbb7002004 has said below me makes sense.

When games are released later on another console, developers usually put in some extra content to make it more appealing. The same thing happened to several games last generation (RE4, ToS, etc.) as well as several Wii games currently.

I thought they were staying clear of online play, though. I mean, I know they fixed some problems that the PS3 version had, but to add in something as big as online mode really must give the 360 version the edge.

    Hah, where's Sony's #1 fanboy?

You mean Guticb? Probably on the Wii forum arguing about why Metroid Prime 3 will suck just because it doesn't have multiplayer.

Matter at hand however, I'm hoping online play is very smooth though. The way the game is built, one bit of lag can mean instant failure.
