Ten Takes on the Super Mario Bros. Theme

Take a listen to these ten different takes on one of the most memorable songs to ever come out of a video game, the overworld tune from the NES game Super Mario Bros!

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the touching ballad "Yesterday" by The Beatles is the most covered song of all time.

That might be true, but it's quickly losing ground to an equally catchy jam from a much different musical era.

We're speaking, of course, about the most recognizable series of notes in video game history -- the Overworld theme song from Nintendo's classic 1985 platforming great, Super Mario Bros. Penned by legendary game bard Koji Kondo (who was also responsible for the epic theme to the original The Legend of Zelda), the mustachioed plumber's theme song is instantly recognizable and immensely charming.

And the Internet agrees. Here are ten of the most inspired covers of the Super Mario Bros. tune, provided by, well, you.

    I'd vote to listen to the Super Mario Borhters theme tune anyday over the aging Beatles song "Yesterday". I can't believe that Yesterday is ahead of the theme, I mean yes I know of the song but for it to be the most covered song of all time!?!?

    Koji Kondo, what a legend he is. Simply amazing to see something like him be acknowledged for this . He dose only fall as my 4th favourite instrumentalist/soundtrack performer though XD

    I've never even heard of the song "Yesterday" because I'm not a fan of the Beatles. I have a feeling SMB will get ahead though. I mean just about everyone under thirty knows the SMB theme.

      And there are people over thirty who know the SMB theme to. Heck I make sure pretty much I know, knows the theme song!

    It is hard for people not to hear it, whether it be on games, TV, movies, or just about anywhere you can here this. I havent heard of "Yesterday" either, is it a good song?
