Crysis 2 writer 'immensely disappointed' with Modern Warfare 2

Did the story for Modern Warfare 2 suck? Crysis 2 writer Robert Morgan seems to think so though he does goes into detail about why Modern Warfare 2 didn't meet the standards of Modern Warfare 1.

Noted science fiction author Robert Morgan isn't just an author who happens to be penning the script for Crysis 2. He's also an avid gamer who has his own take on the hottest game of the past year. In short, he's "immensely disappointed" by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

      Context is important. They asked him what he thought of it, and then they wrote an article based on the response.

    He's right MW2 didn't make much sense as the story was not the focal point of the game. I think Crysis 2 will have the better story merely because Morgan is a well accomplished science fiction novelist. The one thing that may let him down is this is his first time writing for a game, though I am sure his screenplay will make far more sense than MW2 did.

    Didn't meet the standards of MW1? COD4's story wasn't anything to write home about either. It's like comparing one poo pile to a larger poo pile.

      Pretty much. It's like complaining about Silent Hill 2's gameplay; yeah it sucks, but no-one's there for that anyway.

    Because I'm sure that the story in Crysis which was basically 'Kill the Asians and the Aliens' was a lot better, right?

          What I'm saying is that he can't exactly criticize a game for having a bad story, when the story for Crysis 2 isn't going to be anything revolutionary, or different to any other alien invasion game/movie.

          How do you know? What basis, other than stupid stereotyping, do you have? The guy's a successful novelist, so what makes you think this is definitely going to be a rinse and repeat?

      I'm not saying that I can't see Crysis 2 having an original or good story, but it doesn't really look promising at the moment.

      It involves aliens invading New York. I'm not saying that can't be fun or interesting, just saying that it's not really the most original premise and it'd probably be better if the writer stopped having a go at other games and just concentrated on making his the best it can be.

          I'm not saying it can't be fun to play, which is the important thing. Yes, it won't be something that's got an amazing story but I was trying to say it could still be fun.
