Ubisoft has confirmed the next Assassin's Creed title will be called Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and will be released for the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms sometime later this year.

The latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series continues to tell the story of Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order. The game will feature a new multiplayer mode, where players will be able to team up and lead their assassin entourage into battle against the Roman empire.

While Ubisoft is busy teasing players via Facebook, we've got anonymous tipsters sending us images of the placeholder art for something called Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Ubisoft now confirms that this is indeed the next Assassin's Creed title.

Is this going to be a giant DLC? Sure seems like it.

I dunno, the way it's phrased makes it sound like the next game. But I'd have thought that they'd use a different time period for AC3. Probably is DLC.

They actually announced awhile back that Ezio would be the main character again for AC3.

Its apparently a spinoff, not a direct sequel to AC2. A leaked boxart has appeared on several sites.

I am glad it's Ezio, I liked him a lot more than Altair.

This could be good, I guess - seems a little early though.
