Playstation Insider gives off news on how much hard drive space PS3 owners looking forward to Split/Second will need. Spit/Second lands next week in North America for PS3,360, and PC.

Split/Second, at least to my knowledge, seems to have just taken the cake for biggest required install for PS3 games. What's the deal?

Seriously you guys? How many times have I told you you can delete old installs of games you're not playing. 7gb is nothing. And if you to lazy or worried about it then do as deception suggested and get a bigger HDD. I get so annoyed when people make a big deal out of these installs. I mean really how many games are you playing at one time anyway?

It's not just old games, but like for me, I have a number of PSN games, and it adds up.

I've only got a few disk games installed ATM, and even deleted HOME (which reserved 3GB of space), and removed a lot of videos. I'm still under like 5GB of space and I have the 60GB model. What about the poor 20GB model owners?

Ugghhh, hopefully next gen we won't have this problem.

On a side note, MS did it right with their arcade games system, where you don't have to have 2x the game's space in order to install it (1x for the game 1x for the install, which effectively temporarily doubles the game's size, as it needs both the installed game, and the non-installed version existing at the same time for a brief period).

I have a 40GB and have never had a space issue. At all.

        Just saying.

I'm with tallteen here; it's not just game installs that add up in your HDD. In fact, on my console, my game installs barely make up a fifth of my total used space; there are things like PSN games, videos, pictures, not to mention game saves and DLC. Koloth makes it sound like the only thing I have on my HDD is game installs and that I'm free to delete whatever I want whenever I want. There is a lot more on my HDD than just game installs.

Besides, I don't think I should have to be forced to upgrade my HDD or delete things because some developer couldn't do their installs right.

"After installing Split/Second the actual file size seems to be 3.7 GB. Seems someone forgot to add the 3. when making the box art."

    D'oh!

Ehh . . . . doesn't bother me much at all. I upgraded to a 250 a while back. It's kinda dwindled all the way down to somewhere between 50-90 gigs now though!

So I'll either upgrade again later on, or I'll have to part with some precious. . . somethings. My main space killer I think are the PSN games and Qore episodes. I have about 30 PSN games, and every single one of the Qore episodes that I should probably delete since they're old now! But I can't part with it!

But . . . Avalith? So it's actually 3.7gigs? Not nearly as bad
