Nothing like Square Enix yet again adding fuel to the fire that could cause message boards around the internet to burn once again.

In a Q&A session during an investor's meeting following the release of their numbers for the last fiscal year, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada stated that the as-of-right-now PlayStation 3 exclusive RPG Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently under consideration to becoming a multiplatform release. S-E will making a decision by the game's formal unveiling.

Square Enix was able to provide an Xbox 360 release of Final Fantasy XIII in overseas markets, and it succeeded, selling approximately 500,000 units in the United States.

Final Fantasy XIII was originally a PlayStation 3 exclusive, but ended up making the switch to multiplatform PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Sister project Final Fantasy Versus XIII was also originally a PlayStation 3 exclusive, and has stayed as such since its announcement.

The various Versus trailers that we've seen since FFXIII's multiplatform switch have made it clear that this particular FF game would be PS3-only worldwide. But CEO Yoichi Wada was less firm on this stance during a Q&A session that concluded an investors meeting today in Tokyo.

I personally hope not, but then again since Nomura is in charge it's unlikely.

But if this goes to the dogs, so too will Kingdom Hearts III and I'll lose interest. I've no intention waiting an extra year for them to tack together a 360 version to only sell a third of the PS3s and then claim it's a 'stellar success story'.

I agree, why would they ever release it to the xbox? So more people can enjoy it and they can make more money? BLASPHEMOUS!
      /obvious sarcasm

Why not? Their not going to take a year with it, they didn't with the FFXII.

Squeenix will make more money and for FF fans without a PS3 will be able to enjoy this game. And their where hardly any quality differences between PS3 and 360, PS3 was superior but only to those with a fully pimped out lounging room.

The probabilities of this going to the 360 are very slim and I have little hope in it going multi-platform but it's still a very nice thing to have.

And you will lose interest in KHIII because it'll also be on the 360? What logic is this?

I agree that you don't want it to release later for it but they could always do what 360 games used to do. Come out on one console first and work on the port to the ps3 version only reversed this time around though this is just one solution and I doubt they'll use it if it goes multi.

If it doesn't slow down production like Zerpent said then there's no reason not to do this. And if FFVXIII does go multi-platform it's safe to say that KHIII will be multi-platform right off the bat.

I'd very much appreciate having both on the 360 (KH3 especially). I mean, it saves me buying a PS3 just for those two games.

I don't see how it can't be a good thing. Seems a bit selfish tbh, multiplatform is the way forward.

        Ded@

Yes but they won't, by the time the 360 version DID release the demand for it would be so little it'd be a waste of money. They can and will delay the PS3 version if needed for a 360 version to flourish.

My logic? Waiting years for KH3, learnt I need to wait another year because fat cat wants more money. Result = Oh f*** I can't be arsed anymore, I'll go buy something else.

But they just started with KH3, and FFXIII was probably decided to go multiplatform during the middle of it's life so their's plenty (and going by how many SE games are being made) PLENTY of time for KHIII to go to 360.

But you make it sound like you'll lose interest in it if they do "throw it to the dogs"

This is only a good idea if it doesn't slow down production. I've waited long enough already. I sure as hell don't want to wait a couple of extra years or so just because they want to sell a few more copies.

Wada stays fit and trim on a healthy diet of fanboy tears. All joking aside, I'd rather it stay PS3 exclusive. We all saw the scans that showed just how lower the quality was on the 360 and frankly, any excuse to delay this game further is also an excuse to be shot in the head.

Have you seen actual screens that compare the difference between PS3 & 360 FF13? The difference is minimilistic and hard enough to recognise.

So you'd rather it stay on PS3 and have Squeenix lose loads of money that could potentially go towards making newer and more improved games? Seriously your an idiot.

It wouldn't delay the game futher, FF13 wasn't even delayed because of this, it's not hard to do a simple port.

Seriously Squeenix, get your acts together and make this multiplatform, the money that could be made and the fans that would be made happy is much much greater than what you would achieve releasing it on PS3 only.

    Who the hell is Wada?

Also, it doesn't really matter which platforms it's on; it's never going to release anyway.

that is what I was thinking. To be honest, Nomura holds just as much power as Wada does within Square Enix and Nomura is a huge Microsoft hater.

If Wada drags this to the 360, I have a feeling he wont be having that position for much longer...

Why not? To force the decision on Nomura would require the support of the board of directors and the shareholders - i.e., the people who decide whether or not Wada is the man for the job.

Why does it make you lose interest? Would it change the game somehow?

Not trying to sound like a huge fanboy but if this goes Multi platform I won't buy another Square Enix game. I am getting absolutely tired of their promises when they clearly have no intention of following through with them.

      Ded Valve May 19, 10
So basically because they went back on a promise they never really promised, and the fact that by going multi-platform they'll not only be pleasing the fans but making more money making it a win-win, your not just gonna buy another game from them?

Now I may sound crazy but shouldn't you be basing your decision on purchasing games by whether or not their good and not because they appear on more than one console?

Well im offically pissed. I spent 500 on a ps3 mostly based on the fact that at the time 13 and vs13 were only going to be on the ps3. If i would have know this I would have just spent 300 on a 360.
