Red Dead Redemption runs at a lower resolution on PS3 than Xbox 360

Whose ready for another round of console wars over which version of a game looks better on which console? According to some pixel counters, the PS3 version is running at a sub-HD resolution while the Xbox 360 version is not.

Creating multi-platform games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 has proven to be a challenge for many developers as both feature significantly different hardware architecture. Some games end up looking better on the PS3 than the Xbox 360 and vice versa. News of what graphical resolution games run at typically sets the hardcore gamers world afire as was recently seen with Final Fantasy XIII. Add Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption to list of these graphical controversies as it is being reported that the game runs at less than 720p.

    Good for the 360 version, I don't care. Since I won't be running both versions simultaneously beside each other, there's no way I'm gonna notice the difference between HD and more HD.

    Well, I think people are too stuck to the game (like me) to actually give two thirds of a crap to know which one is more HD than the other. I'll check back in a week (when I'm able to stop playing the game).

    I play on an SDTV so it doesn't matter how much or how little it is HD on one or the other.

    Uhm, wtf? Why lower the PS3 resolution. It doesn't even make sense, considering we have more disc space. Rockstar are just being lazy

      After creating a huge game like Red Dead Redemption their being lazy?

      I would love to know how, they probably either made it on 360 and ported it to 360 or didn't have the time to fully polish up the PS3 version, either way your not gonna notice unless you do what Red does and play both 360 and PS3 simultaneously.

    I found out PS3 gets exclusive content, so I don't mind now. Content over slightly improved graphics any day.
