Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing

Iain Warren of GameKudos delves into the controversial topic of violence in video gaming. This first part depicts the present climax of violent gaming as well as what is being done to prevent this material from reaching the clutches of minors.
He also outlines the first ever protest against a violent videogame, the infamous Death Race.
As I write this I have just finished a day powering through SCE Santa Monica’s stunning hack and slash game God of War III.
God of War is a series that has become infamous for containing two of the three majors which get an M rating slapped on the box as fast as a Hermes sprint, these being sex/nudity as well as gut-spilling gore.
Language in video games is not quite as much of a taboo as it once was, in fact most games in the UK pass on a few uses of minor bad language without even receiving a strict age rating. Sex is still a taboo issue but it’s fairly infrequent in terms of gaming and other than certain games we won’t mention, is never taken to the extreme.
