Drunken Irish Character In Red Dead Redemption Causes Outrage

Red Dead Redemption has recieved high praise since its release, but it seems not everybody is happy with the game. Some Irish groups are crying foul at the stereotypical drunk, violent Irish character (aptly named "Irish")...

It is expected to be one of the best selling action adventure video games of all time, but just-released Wild West game "Red Dead Redemption" has Irish media outraged at a drunken Irish character who is inebriated and abusive all the time.

    School children shouldn't be getting the game and my god do Dublin journalist's need to pull their head's out of their all mighty holes. (I'm ex-local, trust me)

    Ah well, everyone likes calling the Irish drunks. xD Not a big deal to be honest, if he was American nobody would bat an eyelid. The fact is that there are Irish alcoholics out there. Just not as much as people like to think. =P

    I'm part Irish myself and I see no issue with this at all. Though tbh I think I might like the character a bit more if he wasn't drunk...sober Irish people are so much more fun

    Oh for goodness sake...I'm Irish (well, Northern Irish, different country from the Republic) and have never been offended by this.

    Rockstar LOVE stereotypes. The GTA games humour revolve around exploiting and occasionally subverting them. That's why they're funny!
