Iain Warren of GameKudos reports: Andrew House of SCEE has recently claimed the PSP was a trial to test the reaction from consumers when faced with a full-digital Sony handheld platform.

House went on to say that he believes "the digital versions of new PSP releases are far too often days behind the physical UMD disc release - that is if there's a digital release at all. For all its disadvantages, PSPgo costs just £50 short of a PS3, and considerably more than previous PSP models, which contain all the same features including the ability to play digitally downloaded and UMD games. That's why people aren't buying it."

I suppose they failed that test, then. How much money did they lose on this thing? I know Sony is a successful company and all consoles operate at a loss at the beginning, but did information really merit whatever expense they paid?

A test of what? To see if people would buy rehashed shit?

Yeah well, Sony's PSP failed where the Wii exceeded beyond all rationality.
