Rock Band to feature weekly downloadable content

mistermostyn | July 12, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
IF you thought that Rock Band from Electronic Arts and Harmonix couldn't get any cooler... think again. Not only will you be able to take to the virtual stage with a bunch of friends across various instruments, but you'll also be able to download weekly album content to keep the experience fresh and rockin' for ages!
MTV Games and Harmonix have revealed their joint plan to release weekly downloadable content for the Electronic Arts-published Rock Band, introducing regular full-length albums to the game - the first of which will be The Who's "Who's Next".

"Offering entire albums for play on the Rock Band platform is a monumental step forward in Harmonix's ever present quest to provide new ways for people to interact with music and creating the most authentic music experience possible," trumpeted Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO of Harmonix.

WEEKLY!!!! Wow that's a big step and action and risk they are willing to take, I don't know any games that are every week adding new content. Now of course this is EA, expect to be losing lots of money people.

Just saw that info on E3. It's a great idea, but like JJBdude mentioned, it'll be quite a challenge to keep updating on a weekly basis. A monthly basis would have been good on both sides, too.

Weekly, is that really possible. Well of course it is but still a big risk in what they are going to be doing, a lot of cost and time. I just dont think they will be able to pull it off.
