Without warning Sony just announced a bombshell of an update on the PlayStation Blog. It will add support for PlayStation Plus(which is available starting tomorrow) among other cool things. The update should be live sometime today as PlayStation Plus goes live tomorrow and this update it required to use the service. Check it out!

Hi everyone, once again we’re adding new features to the PlayStation 3 (PS3) system via firmware update to ensure we’re bringing you the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible. PS3 system software update (v3.40) will be available soon, adding the PlayStation Plus subscription, enhancements to the connection between your PlayStation Network and Facebook accounts and more. Additionally, we’ll be launching system software update (v6.30) for the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system simultaneously with PS3 system software update (v3.40), adding PlayStation Plus compatibility as well as other new features.

      The video uploader feature is awesome imo. All they need now is a peripheral or some sort of software to allow players to record themselves playing a game. Montages would be a hell of a lot easier to do then, and it would save players hundreds of dollars that would otherwise have to be used on the exterior recording equipment you need to create quality montages these days.

    Shall use the video uploader! I'll finally be able to make good use of my Eye.

    And then I'll more than likely get PS+ if the included games are decent.
