Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing

In a recent 1UP interview with with Shane Kim, corporate VP at Microsoft Game Studios, it was revealed that Microsoft will probably cut the price of the XBOX360 more, but at the correct time. The best prices at which the most sales occur according to Shane are all in the $199 region.
However before they can get to that prime price, Shane feels that a large install base like the PS2 is needed. Microsoft will be trying alot harder in the future to cut costs so that at least even if they cannot hit the $199 mark, they can try and reach the $249 mark for the 360. In that sense, Shane feels that Microsoft currently have the edge over the PS3.
Around noon today, 1UP Network editorial director John Davison and I sat down with Shane Kim, corporate VP at Microsoft Game Studios to chat about his company's presence at this year's E3 and press him on what Microsoft's planning going forward. The entire interview will be running soon on 1UP, but we couldn't help but share some today.
A number of people have asked Microsoft for a response to the PlayStation 3 price drop -- but, more importantly, when is Microsoft planning the same thing? Kim doesn't spell out a price drop in 2007, but he said this holiday is very important for Xbox 360 to win, and the company needs to move toward a mass-market price; Kim admits $300 and $350 aren't mass-market. Sounds like it's coming soon.
